Background: Down in SW Mississippi around my ancestral home are two old family graveyards. The current owners of the properties have established deeded protective easements around the cemeteries. Our family cousins, extended cousins, etc. financed a trust fund to provide in perpetuity for maintenance.
One distant cousin lives nearby, keeps an eye on things. He is retired Louisiana state police captain, a state NRA officer, and a MAGAt. Otherwise, he's a nice guy.
I live in Virginia where in November Democrat Abigal Spanberger and her ticket soundly trounced the Republican ticket, even flipping 11 seats in the House of Delegates.
And now -- Cousin Jerry called me Friday with an update on a cemetery matter. First words out of his mouth were: I see Virginia elected a Communist!
He could not understand how the Republican candidate lost by 15 points because Shes a Marine!!! You people voted against a Marine!! The Rep gubernatorial candidate, Winsome Sears, is female, former Lt Gov, served four years in the Marines as an electrician, campaigned with a rifle slung over her shoulder he could not understand how anyone could vote against a Marine.
He then proceeded to rant about all the gun confiscation legislation proposed in the current VA General Assembly he spouted off ream after ream of NRA talking points.
Then we talked for a couple of minutes about the cemetery then THANK GOD my doorbell rang, was the maintenance guy for the apartments coming to check out the dishwasher.
Cousin Jerry will call back next week about the cemetery matter. I can hardly wait.
