Are you over-whelmed with all the lies, the crimes, the corruption, the incompetence, the violence..?

Perhaps the anger is misdirected?

It is easy to blame Donald Trump. After all, he is leading the crime and corruption. He is lying this country into a war which may not be so easy to extricate ourselves. We have become a pariah on the world stage.

But it is the Republicans that give him legitimacy. They do not hold him accountable for anything. MAGA Mike Johnson is the most incompetent and criminal Speaker we have had in a very long time, perhaps forever.

But, it is the voters that give the Republicans permission to screw this country and to destroy our freedom and democracy. They must hold their elected Representatives accountable.

But nobody holds anybody accountable. So most of us are simply overwhelmed by the firehose of lies and propaganda. It's difficult to see any progress.

If you are overwhelmed by it all, welcome to the club. I don't know what else we can do except wait until the election and hope the people will come to their senses?

The EC is what gives ole Mervis T. Leadwater up in Squalor Holler a disproportional amount of voting power in elections. If we don't get rid of the EC, nothing is ever going to change for the better.

and walk a few miles before sunrise each morning--with another couple of fools and their dogs--I don't know how I'd deal. I still remain angry, frustrated, scared to death, pessimistic, and fighting my worst instincts intermittently throughout the day. That is the new "new."

Granted, a very prominent symptom like explosive diarrhea or projectile vomiting.

Still, only a symptom.

The disease lies much deeper and is pervasive. Probably terminal.

There are a lot of videos on TicTok regarding Boomers, basically ripping into Boomers for being selfish. Now technically I am a Boomer (Gen Jones) but I don't take offence, and reply that lumping everyone together doesn't solve the issue and that I can find many Boomers who fought against the actions that got us to this point.

I also did a lot of reflection, what more could I have done? My conclusion, I could have been a whole lot harder on the Reagan Repubs, the USA/USA chanters. Will it piss some of them off, hell yes! (Being retired helps) But I will be God Damned if I am going to let some asshole who pulled the Patriotism shit during Iraq only to come back twenty years later and say the war was a mistake. I will be God Damned if some trickle down, protector of the billionaire class is going to spout bullshit that is proven to be wrong. They need to be called out for their ignorance.

Anyone over 60 has been an adult when a Repub Admin pulled this same b.s., start a war, crash the economy and it has occurred three times.

When I was in college the local weekly paper had an article on the "liberal bias" in media. (mid 1980s) I will always remember one line. "Movies involving major events usually occur about 15 to 20 years after the event." (Writer speculated that any sooner makes the issue too raw and impacts funding/approval) The writer then ended with, 'it isn't a media bias, it is that Republicans are so fucking wrong that an accurate portrayal of history makes them look bad."

Don't let them overwhelm you, tell them they are so fucking provably wrong, use examples through their entire adult lives. I am at the point of not trying to persuade them, I am letting them know that I have zero interest in their latest round of bullshit talking points that have done nothing to make America great.

Didn't they know any liberal boomers?
I'd consider myself a semi-activist. Did they know any people like me? I have friends who also did activist stuff, too. Shoot, I could been doing more fun stuff; instead of what I did. But I had interests, and concerns to make things better for people; so I did stuff.

Do I get overwhelmed? Yes. I step away, then return.
I just spent like 2 1/3 days totally free of news - esp drumphf!. It was *wonderful*! I have art, music, crafts, Nature, sciences, TV & movie streaming m, and books to distract me; thank goodness!
But I did think of the poor Iranians going through extra hell bc of those bastards drumphf & bibi!

Back to DU, and the news again.

Well it's shockingly awful,for certain .
DJT,the Projectionist-in-Chief ,is director and producer of this dystopian nightmare .
But, the cast of thousands of MAGA extras make this continuous ,exorbitantly expensive production possible.
However,IMHO,the election was purloined by Musk and his muskrats.
Didn't DJT admit as much?

That’s been the deliberate modus operandi of this regime since day 1. By hitting us with a continuous barrage of outlandish statements, attacks and propaganda, plus unprecedented (and likely illegal) actions, they ensure you can’t focus on the truly horrific shit that they pull: it just gets buried in the midst of all the rest.

Listen to it on the radio. Never ever. Anymore. I do come to Du and skim over the headlines, enter General message, but I rarely read any of the Articles all the way through. I get into the first few lines I got the picture I don't need to read anymore to know that it's insane and continues to be insane and there's no end in sight.
