They've been fucking this country over for my entire life. I do not understand why anyone would vote republican...EVER.

(4,031 posts)Nixon was my first hated Republican! The Vietnam years were excruciating (the boy who sat behind me in 7th grade was killed). Watergate! Going through those horrible, nightmare feelings now is just as bad, as it was then. The GOP doesn't seem to notice what we the people are experiencing....they are very self-centered!

(20,437 posts)during the Eisenhower administration. I was just a kid, but sometimes kids are pretty good judges of a person's character, and Nixon wore his crookedness on his sleeve.
When he debated Kennedy it was sooooo apparent. How anyone in their right mind could vote for that worm is far beyond my imagination.

(22,967 posts)Nixon was a CROOK. And that was way before he became president.

(1,597 posts)As I've said for years, "Democrats are about 'we', Republicans are about 'me'."
I loathe them, now more than ever.
OMGWTF
(5,082 posts)They need to go the way of their predecessor the Whigs into the dustbin of history.

(12,614 posts)Much stemming from their screwy religious cults. lots of angry incels who failed the sexual revolution and missed out on 'the summer of love'. generational hate coupled with weak, rigid minds.

(3,667 posts)He wore an old Derby Hat, had a long pointy grey goatee, smoke surrounding him from a fat stogie he always had going (I mean those big big fat cigars) and the first real life brass flask I'd ever seen that he'd take swigs off of (and let us 8 year olds have a nip every now and then) and he had a low Jack Nicholson type voice. He was ALWAYS riding around or sitting in his big old low riding jet black 63 Thunderbird with the radio always tuned to the local jazz station and never went over 20mph, on purpose just to piss people off. I thought he was the coolest adult (besides my parents) I'd ever met. Every time he would leave when us kids were in the yard he'd get in the car, light up that stogie and holler at us. He would give each one of us a quarter and say remember this the rest of your life you little Yard Apes......
FUCK THOSE FUCKING REPUBLICAN COCKSUCKERS
I've been saying that for 55 years, never stopped, never will until I'm ash and dirt

(15,399 posts)And have spent the entirety of the 3+ decades since completely mystified how this country indulges their bullshit - and how they have incrementally sunk lower and lower over that time with the country somehow giving them more and more power.
Sorry, not us, but this is who "we" are ...

(4,601 posts)He was an Annapolis graduate and most of his career served on old-school diesel submarines, which he allowed us to tour once in the mid sixties... they are way smaller that you imagine, btw.
He and my mother got into knock-down drag out fights over Nixon at Christmas, but I still remember him very fondly. He never married or had children, but had a "girlfriend" who he cared for through all the years of her breast cancer treatments, improvements, relapse, until her death.
He was one of the good ones and would have hated, ABSOLUTED HATED, the orange shitstain.
I'm almost glad he's gone and not a witness to recent events and this timeline.

(108,489 posts)Whether it was Jimmy Swaggart, Rush Limbaugh, Rupert Murdoch, Sean Hannity, Infowars, Charlie Kirk, Andrew Tate, the list goes on.
The worst part is that people voluntarily choose to consume this garbage. It's total brain rot.

(455 posts)I'm sure the ratio is different for each Republican voter, but that's the heart of it.

(1 post)Its a whole lot easier to guide people to an ideology than it is to convince them of it.

(20,940 posts)That's just another way of saying, "I've got mine, so fuck you."
My dad was a a decent guy, but there was a cold core there somewhere. Last good Republican President was Eishenhower.

(108,489 posts)And the current state of the GOP can be traced back to one man - Rupert Murdoch. He and his shitty propaganda outlet is the reason why the United States is in the mess that it's in. Fox News is a terrorist organization.

(1,619 posts)My dad told me that Republicans hate people and love corporations and money when I was little. The older I get the more I know he was right.
