NY-11: Can a Populist Democrat Flip New York City's Only G.O.P. House Seat?

Populist Democrats, trying to pull their struggling party toward a left-wing economic platform, are already waging high-profile campaigns in swing states from Maine to the Midwest.

Now, the anti-establishment faction is taking aim at a Republican-held House seat in one of the reddest corners of New York City.

Allison Ziogas, a first-time candidate, formally kicked off a campaign for the seat on Tuesday, leaning on her biography as a union electrician in a long-shot bid to win back voters who have abandoned her party in droves.

To help shape that message, she has tapped Morris Katz, the strategist behind several of Democrats’ most-watched progressive populists, including Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, and Graham Platner, a Senate candidate in Maine

I've lived in many places where R's ran unopposed

Right now it's like a free-for-all of D candidates. They're popping up like spring dandelions!

For them it's synonymous with "progressive" and often means "socialist" or "socialist-leaning." As the mouthpiece for AmeriKKKa's wealthy elite, NYT has a pathological hatred of folks like that and always seeks to undermine them.

Etymologically speaking, "populist" is a term that has completely lost its meaning and is usually used as a pejorative slur.

Ergo, everyone who can should probably vote for Allison Ziogas unless someone further left comes along.

and MAGAt normalising.

Almost all US MSN outlets of all types are shite RW leaning or RW screaming sewers now. Even MS NOW is not as good as it was several years ago.

WaPo is the most depressing. They used to be superb, or at least were at times.

The NYT was always more of a mixed bag for me.

I generally scan the front page, which is free. If there's a topic I want to examine deeper, I look for a European source for further information.
