Why authorities are finally searching Epstein's ranch in New Mexico

Authorities on Monday began searching a sprawling ranch in New Mexico formerly owned by the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, renewing questions about the steps taken by the U.S. Department of Justice nearly a decade ago.

While the New Mexico Department of Justice has released few details about the new investigation, here is what we know about the ranch and what prompted the renewed scrutiny:

Did the Department of Justice ever search the ranch?

When Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges, the investigation into his alleged illicit activity swept across many of his opulent properties. However, investigators apparently never searched his New Mexico ranch, formerly known as "Zorro Ranch," according to emails released by the U.S. DOJ earlier this year.

When Epstein was found dead by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019, investigators' scope broadened, but authorities appear to have never returned to raid the property for potential evidence.

Mostly they are searching Epstein's ranch because it's New Mexico -- the most solid blue state in the West. ancianita 7 hrs ago #7

Zorro in Spanish means "fox."
I wonder if that reference was even made derogatorily by trump and was blacked out?

New Mexico Democrats get shit done for The People.

n late 2025, New Mexico state legislators pushed for an inquiry into the Zorro Ranch.[31] New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands Stephanie Garcia Richard had recommended further investigation to determine whether Epstein had been using ranching as a cover for illegal activities at the site.

Concerns grew after an anonymous tip sent in 2019 from someone who had worked at the ranch mentioned in the Epstein files (released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act in January 2026) had alleged that two abused girls had been strangled and Epstein had ordered their bodies to be buried in the hills on the property in order to conceal the murders.
It was unclear whether the FBI ever looked into the tip.[32][33][34] The Huffines family agreed to cooperate with authorities in the investigation.[35] In February 2026, the New Mexico Legislature's House passed HR1, a bill to create a Epstein “Truth commission” [36] and appointed Rep. Andrea Romero its chair[37]; it plans to share initial findings by mid-2026

Looking into the activities at Zorro Ranch now, is not going to turn up anything new.

It was your basic bordello, engaged in 'fun' for influential people.
Well hidden from prying eyes at the time, probably protected by the same influential people.

That's why the government is allowing a search.

Cadaver Dogs should be able to locate any remains... just let them roam and as vast that area may seem, they probably could just watch a far, while the dogs work.
