Gas is just the start: What else the Iran war could soon cost you

Ever since the US and Israel struck Iran, the jump in oil and gas prices has become a major focus for markets and consumers alike. But that’s only the top of a long list of goods that stand to get more expensive.

With oil prices shooting up, the cost to transport physical goods around the world has already increased and is poised to continue going up the longer the war continues.

And because many businesses are already absorbing most of the cost of tariffs enacted by the administration over the last year, they have little wiggle room for them to assume higher transportation costs, said Brian Bethune, an economics professor at Boston College.

“If we see the persistence of these higher (oil) prices for a period of time, then you’re going to see a persistent cost shock,” he said.

Back in the 70's we used to have pistachios as an occasional treat. Their shells were tinted red to hide insect damage. After the shah was deposed pistachio imports stopped. When I was was going to San Jose State a couple of years later I used to read the local newspapers. There were lots of ads selling Central Valley land for pistachio orchards and touting the tax benefits.

Consumers. Workers who have long commutes are going to suffer. Airlines will pass the cost of fuel onto ticket prices. The $hit is going to hit the fan in the next few months. And the orange piggy turd can’t blame Biden for this illegal and immoral war he started as a distraction to his involvement/partnership in the Epstein scandal.

At one time Iran is where I believe the world got its pistachio nuts, before California jumped into the growing biz. It was mostly prevalent back in the red dye pistachio days I think.

I just remembered Stephen Colbert did an ad for pistachios.

Filling stations here generally carry three fuels: regular unleaded (91 octane), hi-test (95) and Diesel.

Since Trump started his war, they have all increased about $0.10/liter which is around $0.30-$0.35/gallon.

Thanks, Trump.
