Update: One French officer killer; six French soldiers injured in drone attack in Iraqi Kurdistan

This is probably related to drone attacks in the vicinity of Erbil and the Erbil airport / air bases last night.

Italian forces in Erbil were also hit (no injuries), and have moved to a safer location.

The French soldiers were rushed to hospitals - their current status is unclear.

On Edit: France announced an officer killed in the Erbil attack. I assume it is one of the six previously listed as wounded.

An officer in the French military “died for France in an attack in the Erbil region of Iraq,” Emmanuel Macron, France’s president, said in a social media post in the early hours of Friday in Europe. He noted that several other French soldiers had been wounded.
