As he promoted the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE America Act, to a group of Republicans, Trump mentioned daughters being "of age" at "above six years old."

"You know your daughter, she has to be of age, like above six years old," Trump said.

The comment quickly drew attention from Democrats and others on social media who have linked Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, who died in federal custody in 2019 after his arrest on federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.

It’s not clear precisely what point Trump was seeking to make about the child; we asked the White House for clarity and the response we received did not address it, the answer focused instead on his urgency to pass the bill.

Because I think it's just one more revelation of Trump's complete lack of EMPATHY and understanding, not only for children, but for ANYONE. Evidence of a MENTALITY that sees them as no different from anyone else, if see them at all.

Which I think explains his (and his devotee's) lack of regard for CHILDREN, indirectly and in particular, on matters such as

child nutrition programs
social safety nets for families with children
the availability of healthcare coverage
their anti-immunization policymaking, measles for example
their undermining of environmental regulations
their opposition to gun control legislation
their undermining of child labour laws
their attacks upon learning, knowledge, public education in general
his elimination of USAID that, by some estimates, have resulted in the DEATHS of over a half million children, worldwide, in one year alone.

and in their persecution of immigrants, illegal and legal, that rip children from the arms of families, parades them zip tied thru the streets, that deports them (or attempts to deport them, hustled aboard chartered flights in the dead of night), and that locks them up in cages.
