Trump is increasingly frustrated that the world doesn't think the US is "winning" in Iran. He says that they have no navy, no leadership, etc. and the ships can pass the Strait, but people increasingly see through the lie.
Yes, Iran was heavily bombed
Yes, their previous leadership was killed
Yes, the US sunk a bunch of boats
But Iran is still able to attack
Iran has shown the ability to disable ships
Iran was able to follow an orderly process to select new leadership
Iran's leadership didn't just run to Trump and beg for mercy
This is going to piss Trump off and he's going to want to show how much he's winning by making a show of bombings, because in his mind, blowing things up is winning. He struggles with cases that aren't purely about financial or personal advantage. And from Iran's perspective, it's about survival more than simple advantages.
The fact is that Trump has started a losing war because his changing objectives are not achievable simply by air strikes. Ground troops could possibly work with seizing nuclear materials, people, and land, but Trump doesn't want to be in a position where he can be blamed for things. Right now, he can be blamed for having a losing strategy. To him, that might be worse than losing people that he calls "suckers and losers" to avoid blame.
