It’s a military school, where incorrigibles got sent, assuming their parents have the means.

9. Thanks for pointing that out. It was fairly common in the late 50s and early 60s to ship

troubled males off to military "academies". I opt to call them militaristic reform schools. Had a cousin who was sent to one of them. He moved on to eventually graduate from a law school, but was disbarred for stealing funds from an elderly woman's estate.

Guess those schools didn't always make a difference.

10. From what I read of his years at that academy, the students mostly marched and did

lightweight studies. They played baseball, bowled, learned to drive and perhaps shoot a gun. His big claim to fame was being chosen to lead the academy cadets in a NYC parade.
