down in Kentucky. After brutalizing the woman, breaking her leg, lying to his superior etc. he got penalized. He got suspended for one whole day. Let me apologize in advance for daring to be opinionated as it has been brought to my attention that is frowned upon.

(29,447 posts)This is the kind of cop that would thrive in a job with ICE. It looks like he and hospital staff just felt like they had the right to be cruel to a homeless person, and laugh about it.
This seems to be common in our country anymore--no compassion, no accountability. Not as viciously as this lady, but I did get treated pretty badly by hospital staff and cops when I was down and out in Calif. They don't like poor people on Medicaid. Fresno County cops don't like women who know their rights.
Lexington is one of our 3 liberal college towns here, btw.

(8,996 posts)grocery stores etc. -and people looking down their noses at people struggling with life and what situation they're in. Been down myself a time or more and had to listen to the judgemental crap from "family and friends" and their looks of disgust thrown my way. I got to hear "You just don't want to work because if I went out looking I would have a job the same day" sort of crap. Then I got to hear "Well we never know where you're staying so we gave up trying to get a hold of you for Thanksgiving and Christmas" and I knew that it was just that they didn't want me around.
But I ran across some people during those times who were also down and struggling to get back on their feet who were some of the best people I ever met. Treated me better than any of my family or so-called "friends". I never forgot that. It's tragic that people don't realize that the care and kindness we show to people who are down and/or struggling with health or life isn't just something that helps the ones struggling it's also "seeds" for the garden we grow inside of ourselves.
