(1,016 posts)Looking at polling, and almost 90% of residents of Gulf states oppose recognition of Israel.
And those arab states would be risking even more oil and desalinization infrastructure damaged or destroyed. It's not going to happen.

(18,566 posts)Yesterday I read a report of an Iranian drone strike and it was reported that a fire was started and out out within a few hours with only moderate damage...
These 95kg drone warheads aren't knocking buildings down.

If Iran is so very weak, why does the Wall Street Journal have this headline?
US is holding off currently sending warships to the Strait of Hormuz with navy officers saying Iranian drones and anti-ship missiles could turn the area into a kill box for American sailors

(18,566 posts)You know... it's ok to be anti-Trump and anti-Authoritarian without being anti American, meaning anti-"your neighbors"
Iran has been everything that progressives rail against for 5 decades... anti woman, anti lgbt, anti Democracy...

(3,902 posts)How about: It's possible to be against unprovoked war without being either anti-American or pro-Iran.
A pathetic cheap shot that is beneath your dignity.
Also: It's "douchebag."

(85,026 posts)It's possible to discuss this without making assumptions about people's motivations. It's not an easy issue with clear answers. It really is a "pandoras box" type situation and now everyone has to live with it.

(3,902 posts)How do you edit your posts--for instance, removing the sentence that included the word "dooshbag"--without leaving any record that you've done it?
It's a heckuva trick.

A rather superior response to a Harry Potter meme.
Guess I'd better be slower to respond in some cases...

I'm wondering if there's something amiss with your picture-receiving mechanism.

(10,954 posts)More women university students than men and many Iranian women are world renowned scientists. Iran is one of the countries of the world with the most women scientists.
Psychopathic Trump was in talks with Iran and Iran agreed to Trumps terms, when Trump kills 160 little elementary school girls and as their parents are searching for them - bombs a second time. Im sure this horrified all Arab countries. Now we have Trump talking about killing people as fun. Hes ever sicker than anyone imagined. Every day, another prominent Republican is hating on Trump. It came out in the Epstein files, even the evil Epstein said Trump was one of the most evil men he knew.

(85,026 posts)Siding with Israel angers their citizens. Doing nothing makes them look weak. The best move is to ask the US to leave. That solves both problems at once. I think this is bad for the US, but I'm looking at it from their perspective.

(898 posts)-getting the US to leave so Israel can have regional hegemony. I can see GCC states asking us to leave in the future.

(85,026 posts)Unless Israel feels that they don't have to check with the US before taking action. Other than that, it leaves Israel on their own in the region. The US has at least helped reduce war impacts to Israel.
vanessa_ca
(898 posts)It would give Israel a free hand and they'd rely on their nukes. I think the US is going to be the big loser in this war.
I think the US' big mistake was leaving its allies not as protected as it had promised and making it clear, the priority for protection was Israel. There's been a lot of grumbling about that.
