Dad, 41, Who Fought With U.S. Troops Dies Hours After Being Detained by ICE

A father of six who fought shoulder-to-shoulder with U.S. troops in Afghanistan died just hours after he was detained by ICE.
Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal, 41, served as an Afghan special forces soldier from 2005 and worked alongside U.S. Army Special Forces for more than a decade before he was evacuated by the U.S. and resettled while he sought asylum, according to the AfghanEvac nonprofit.
Having moved to America to start a new life with his family, he had been preparing to drive his children to school on Friday, March 13, when agents in unmarked vehicles surrounded him and detained him.
Within 24 hours, he was dead.

(12,519 posts)Another atrocity done in our names and funded with our taxes.
Once this is over? The very detention centers ICE is unlawfully warehousing and abusing their victims should be repurposed for their own long-term detainment.
Each one of these stories of abuse, injury and death are depraved and disgusting. This man was dead within 24 hours of detention. Wonder what excuse/lie ICE will dream up?
Whatever it is we need to remember because every forgotten or ignored crime against humanity dims the light of our own moral integrity. Every repeated, overlooked crime of this nature chips away at our own ability to feel outrage, empathy, kindness.
Which is pretty much the point of fascist regimes.

(53,132 posts)I want them blown off the face of the earth with high explosives. The ICE criminals can go to regular jail.

(12,519 posts)Because you're quite right, the detention centers are an obscenity in themselves.
Maybe we should save one facility as a remembrance for the future--this is where detainees were illegally housed, abused and even died under the hands of ICE, so ordered by Donald J Trump. Never forget.

(4,030 posts)... and never forgive. The crimes of ICE put the Trump regime in a league with Pol Pot and Hitler, which apparently delights the Gangrenous Boil on the Ass of Humanity, and Nosferatu Miller. Granted, this bunch hasn't accrued the horrific numbers of the aforementioned monsters of history, but give them time; they're just getting started. Trump said he now wants to execute reporters who are not sufficiently obsequious and dare to report the truth.
There is NO rationale or bullshit excuse for these psychopaths to be running around loose. And that goes double for Russell Vought and every evil piece of shit even tangentially associated with The Heritage Foundation and it's bilious bible, Project 2025.
How much more of this brazen and lawless crime wave are we supposed to endure before those who are supposed to work in our best interests start to take an interest in stopping this madman?
We're running out of time. Daring to walk down the street without permission will soon be a capital offense. Hell, it already is in Minneapolis!

(60,094 posts)It goes my nature, but when I learn news like this, I can only wish a similar fate for those who killed him. If we're so gung-ho on the death penalty, accord it to those who use it without justification on others under false cover of "official business." The penalty for planned murder is
straightforward in our penal system. Use it or lose it. (Personally, I say lose it, but if we won't, then use it on those who deserve it).

(1,657 posts)The guys who attacked our government, ransacked and destroyed our legally created institutions are free to go swinging their dicks and bragging about their Crimes.
Edolf and the whole DOGE militia should all be air-dropped on the front lines in Ukraine and left to their own devices.
Meanwhile, a man who risked his life for our Country is kidnapped by Meal Team Six and left to die in custody.
This is clearly NOT the America for which he believed he was risking his life.
I'm guessing this will be hard to explain to prospective confidential sources and operatives.
We can't be trusted.
NOTHING GREAT ABOUT THIS!!!!!

(11,059 posts)Again, it shouldn't be necessary to specify... But it needs to be done by TRUSTED PROFESSIONALS who aren't owned by this administration.
It's just so wrong and so shameful.
