It appears to me that it was Israel who fired this missile. It hit the metrology building of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, just 200 metres from the nuclear reactor which contains 300 tonnes of nuclear fuel.
Hitting the nuclear reactor would trigger a catastrophic nuclear incident affecting the Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea, Red Sea, and Mediterranean.
I understand that Iran wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, but I also understand that Bibi wants to wipe Iran off the face of the earth, and Krasnov got the US right in the middle.

The Bushehr power plant is a Russian VVER/V-446 with four independent cooling loops. It is very unlikely to be severely disabled in a direct missile hit.
I note that at Chernobyl the reactor core was graphite; there was no containment building; and the flammable core burned for weeks. Nevertheless the associated death toll was rather low. The city of Kiev, a short distance, 100 km (60 miles) from Chernobyl did not experience a massive death toll.
In fact the largest death toll in Kiev from Chernobyl is the result of the German nuclear phase out which provided the money - through gas and coal sales - for Putin's war on Ukraine. This of course is an indirect death toll that would have not taken place without nuclear exceptionalism, the irrational belief that any death from radiation exposure justifies quite literally, thousands upon thousands upon tens of thousands of deaths from dangerous fossil fuels.
The weapons of mass destruction being used in this illegal war are all powered by fossil fuels. There are no exceptions.

(1,286 posts)And prevent us from exiting the war until THEIR objectives are met. Its the tail wagging the dog. They have taken out all of the leadership that can negotiate (not that negotiations with Israel/US are worth the paper they are written on), and now they are targeting infrastructure, ensuring Iran will do the same across the region. Israel is dragging us into a Vietnam style situation.
