Europe may help Trump on Strait of Hormuz if U.S. backs Ukraine, Stubb says

Europe could help Donald Trump secure the Strait of Hormuz, if the U.S. steps up support for Ukraine, said the President of Finland Alexander Stubb. As Brussels heads into Thursday’s European Council summit, the war in Iran and the fragile Ukraine loan deal are expected to be top of the agenda.

“We will spend almost 235 billion euro on transforming the Polish energy sector”, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at the PowerConnect conference in Gdańsk. He also revealed the details of the Polish initiative to amend the European greenhouse gas emissions mechanism, set to be presented at tomorrow's European Council.

The death toll from Israeli airstrikes on central Beirut overnight has risen to 12 and the number of people wounded now sits at 41. Meanwhile, Iran has launched another series of missile and drone attacks in the Persian Gulf region. Our correspondent, Oz Katerji, is in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

What I believe Stubb is saying is the U.S. needs to step-up with more material support and weapons support. Europe also would likely want sanctions reinstated against Russia as well as tougher sanctions implemented. The Europeans want this war to be over. Russia winning is not a good option for Europe or the United States.
