Multiple reports indicate that the U.S. and its ally in the region, Qatar, were aware of the plan and approved it ahead

President Donald Trump's latest "red line" threat to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday drew fresh outrage from political analysts and observers.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. was not aware of Israel's recent bombing strikes against the South Pars gas field, which is Iran's largest energy source. Multiple reports indicate that the U.S. and its ally in the region, Qatar, were aware of the plan and approved it ahead of time.

Nevertheless, Trump told the Israelis that there will be "no more attacks" in Iran without his approval.

"NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar - In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before," Trump's post reads in part.

Somebody is lying, and either way whether the US knew or didn't know about it, only highlights just how inept and incompetent they all are.

Unless I'm missing something, Qatar would be cutting their own economic throat doing that. It's co-owned by them

Qatar's portion is known as North Dome.

This is a shared field, with independent development. Why would Qatar invest in the Iranian portion of the field, instead of further investing in their own?

Not that Iran is actually extracting much in comparison. It's their most profitable field for sure, but Qatar extracts gas at 9x the rate.

The closest thing I could find about Qatar investing in Irans side is this - https://www.iranintl.com/en/202305177875 - but it doesn't say anything about Qatar investing in the Iranian side, only that the field itself is shared.

Certainly though this is likely part of how they are circumventing sanctions, but this isn't exactly a setup where Qatar is in position to take a cut of the proceeds.

Qatar isn't selling Iranian gas to Turkyie, Iran is selling it themselves.

As for banking middlemen - Iranian "Shadow Banks" in general though, that'd be the UAE not Qatar.

We see what he gets. An airplane, loads of cash, God knows what else. But what does he give the oil barons that they can't get for themselves? Does the government have an A-list of people who have paid for certain privileges?
