Got an email today from "Fidelity Life Insurance."
But when I saw the email address that had sent it, it was obviously fake:

(28,308 posts)From the dmv that I thought would be a ticket for a toll that I dont drive on , thats a well known scam
But it was for unpaid tickets (bs) that I had to pay by today or would result in loss of dl , cancelling of my registration , higher car ins due to unpaid $$ etc etc
It was a # preceded by +63 xxx-xxx-xxxx , not our state dmv # and a # similar to another that I get almost daily scam txt from of various subjects . One txt even just wished me a beautiful day 😑
As usual i block the # and report it as junk but I expect they will just keep on coming .
A real tell is when the txt ends with to stop msgs just reply stop
uh huh nope

(20,720 posts)She'd received a text from MyGov about her Medicare card and it asked for payment. It was a scam for sure, but she didn't know that. I showed her my own MyGov homepage and the differences and how to look for the URL. She's my age; dyslexic and not immersed in tech.
With a wry grin she said, "I wondered why they wanted my passport and licence details!"

(8,907 posts). . . saying my account had been suspended. I knew immediately it was a fake, because (a) my work email is not associated with any of my personal accounts, and (b) the link it asked me to click on pointed to some bogus domain that had nothing to do with Netflix!
