So I'm hearing gasoline prices will be at least double in April or May

and I'm saying no way. If the price of gas goes from $3.69 to $8.00 in the next six weeks, well, we are in for a horrible ride as a country.

Stock up, fuel up.

(I'm hearing this from a very close person who has lots of sources)

Honda Insight which is basically a Prius knock off BUT it’s a Honda. I like it. Best car I’ve ever had.

I get at least 45MPG. I buy 5 gallons at a time (1/2 tank) to save on weight.

I got some sticker shock at the pump today.
$3.79 a gallon. I must not have gotten gas in the last 2-3 weeks.

BTW my Highway Use Tax in Virginia is $55/year. With the gas tax at $.30/gallon equals 183 gallons of gas. More than double my actual use.

My partner laughs at me when I purposefully don't fill up the tank, they're like "eventually you'll use it, why not save a trip"?

I explain it's because of the extra weight. You get better mileage with less weight, and I don't much mind stopping at the gas station.

I looked it up and it turns out it's only about a 1% MPG difference between having 15 gallons in your tank vs 1 gallon (about 78lbs different), but hey, every bit helps, as long as you aren't expressly making trips to the station. Plus if I get rear-ended, hey, smaller boom, right?

I know that doesn’t solve the supply chain issue but it might get people to rethink the attractiveness of good local and regional public transportation for personal travel.

I like living in Philly. My spouse and I don’t even own cars. Mass transit gets you everywhere, and my employer even pays for it. I really wish more people would hop on board with the idea so that we can get transit systems expanded. For a multitude of reasons, it takes forever to build a rail line in the US compared to Canada, Europe and China.

It’s super easy to pay, they have coordinated apps, the tickets usually apply to all forms of transport in a region, and it’s ALL electric. Huge numbers of people go on holiday via train. It’s absolutely glorious.

I keep dreaming of high-speed trains built in the same spaces as existing interstates, for example, but we’ll never have that here until building out the transportation infrastructure is a serious federal focus and investment. Like Ike did with the interstates.

And they are in love with the mass transit. One of many things that irks me about Americans, is that we can’t seem to keep anything nice or clean looking. Apparently half of our country has never learned what a trash can is for or any respect for other people in society.

The trains and buses I’ve ridden there are very clean. We definitely are a country of slobs with zero respect for public spaces and transportation.

But in case anyone did, I'm reminding.

Not sure how certainly that rise in crude cost is rightly called "causal" to the crash, but it sure as shit didn't help.

And we also have another massive bubble in play RN, I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone here what that is

If it's $8/gallon in middle America there will be pitchforks and torches at the WH fence.

Even prices that high haven’t stopped people from driving. They do mostly drive more fuel efficient vehicles though. I also saw a lot of Teslas.

There are no "sources" who would have any concrete knowledge of future gas prices. At this point, it is 100% speculation.
