... but it would be nice if someone said that right out loud. The tweet doesn't say it. The actual article doesn't say it in the portion that people without accounts at Cook Political can see.
From the context of "too much baggage" and "limits on the effects of money", and the fact that it's Ohio, it has to be moving toward the Democrats. But again, why can't journalists just say it plainly?
I know journalism has changed. Good journalism used to put the essentials in the first paragraph and then expand the details down the column. It was convenient to the reader. Now, since it's all about clicks and timing how long people stay on the page, you have to wade through several paragraphs of stage setting to get to the punchline. Seriously, the first three paragraphs of the article talk about big campaign money without even mentioning the topic advertised by the headline, much less clearing up what it means.
Don't mind me, I'm just griping about a pet peeve, and not intending to hijack the thread into a discussion on good/bad writing. And it is a good thing that even red Ohio is showing some movement towards democrats.
Also, RandySF, you do a marvelous job keeping us up to speed on all manner of elections throughout the US. I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates that.
