The message will go out: come cut a deal with us, and we let your ships through. For most of the planet, it will amount to normalization with Iran, but for the gulf states it will be 'we told you not to do business with the infidels, see what happened? Now, you can either kick the Americans out completely and say to hell with israel and WE will defend your interests, OR we can continue to bomb every piece of monetizatable infrastructure you will ever build.

This goes really bad, Iran will be empowered on the global stage in a way not available to them for the last 50 years...what do you think they will do THEN?
