IT IS NOT A "CNN POLL." IT IS AN NBC NEWS SURVEY OF "SELF-IDENTIFIED MAGA VOTERS."@acyn.bsky.social
Trump on troop deployments: I seem to have great support. CNN came out with a poll today that I'm at 100%. They said they have never seen a poll like that. The CNN poll said I'm at 100%.

On Wednesday morning, CNN data analyst Harry Enten took stock of the presidents base of support as the war in Iran entered its third week, intensifying across the Middle East and fueling concerns about global economic fallout.
Sometimes you look at the polling data and there are numbers that just jump off the screen at you and this is one of those, Enten said on News Central.
He pointed to the results of a recent NBC News survey, which found that 100 percent of self-identified MAGA voters support the Republican president, while zero disapprove.

(31,696 posts)You can tell he finds CNN to be his greatest threat by his relentless and singular focus on them. So they still, for the time being, have value.

His people all seem willing to tell him whatever he wants to hear, so he probably doesn't think he's "making up" the CNN poll story.

(7,780 posts)I watch very little CNN. I couldnt say whether or not CNN said he is at %100. I can say with near 100% certainly that CNN has never seen a poll like that. No one has, because it only exists in his mind.

(31,696 posts)Jesus this thread is both revealing and alarming. Nobody is actually reading the information that the OP put together beyond the first line

(627 posts)In no way does the article state that the NBC survey is not a poll. CNN data analyst, Harry Enten, seemed okay with calling it polling data. There is nothing in OPs post to say it wasnt a poll and it is reasonable to believe it was. One would have to go to specific report about the NBC survey to find out if it was a poll or not. If the info came from the NBC March 2026 Poll, NBC seems to waiver between referring to it as a survey or poll, but I believe its part of the monthly survey conducted by Hart Research and Public Opinion Strategies and noted as poll. Admonishing fellow DUers for a nonexistent failure to read the source material is a strange way to react to the comments here . Misreading the survey or polls source is definitely happening, but whether CNN funded the poll or not, its monetizing the data NBC paid for. Im not able to find news site that confirms this data was from a survey that wasnt a poll. So, Ill leave it with these two sentences from the article that may lead one to believe it was a poll.
President Donald Trump has received unanimous backing from MAGA voters in a new poll a result that left a television analyst stunned.

... that only included MAGA voters is worthless. That, and five bucks will get you a Caffe Latte, Venti at Starbucks.

(31,696 posts)In any way shape or form. Surveys are not scientific and have very limited value. Or in this case, almost none.

(4,130 posts)... so I went with that. I've since corrected the error. The result, though, was the same, regardless of what we call it. And the price of a latté varies wildly, depending on the market area.

(3,690 posts)The reason that surveys (specifically, things that are said to be surveys because they don't qualify as polls) are regarded as less reliably predictive of the opinions of entire populations (which I assume is what you mean by "scientific" ) is because respondents are often self-selected, whereas polling inherently involves (among other tenets) specific efforts to choose respondents randomly, strongly increasing their predictive quality afa the whole population is concerned.
Once you, as the survey taker, have to stipulate that "these results reflect the opinions of the people who elected to participate in the survey" you are essentially admitting (to people in the know, at least) that your survey's predictive strength is weak (e.g. as you say, have limited value).
It appears from his response that Donnie Dipshit is not someone who is in the know, though, with a pathological liar, such things can be difficult to determine conclusively

(627 posts)Its true that all surveys arent polls and that often the word survey is used to denote a survey that is not a poll, but it also retains its inclusive meaning in use within the polling community. It obviously had some value or CNN wouldnt have monetized this one data point.

The Trump Cult is just as reprehensible and wrong as Trump; theres nothing surprising about blind partisan Republican hacks supporting Trump indeed, Trump is a product of the GOP.
