... A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows most people expect President Donald Trump to order troops into the war with Iran. But they do not support that decision. The survey offers a consensus of public opinion as the administration considers its next moves.
The survey, which polled 1,545 U.S. adults from March 17 to March 19, carries a margin of error of about 3%. However, its findings are significant: 65% of polled Americans believe Donald Trump will ultimately order soldiers into Iran for a large-scale ground war. However, support for such an action is nearly nonexistent, with only 7% backing the idea.
This Donald Trump-Iran war poll indicates a deep divide between public expectation and public desire. While 34% of respondents said they would support sending U.S. ground troops into Iran, but only in the form of special forces. Whereas a clear majority, as in 55%, stated they do not support sending any troops at all.
The data further reveals a stark partisan split regarding the current war. According to the poll, 77% of Republicans approve of the U.S. strikes on Iran. This support drops dramatically among other groups, with only 28% of independents and a mere 6% of Democrats voicing approval.
