I could live without "relentless commitment to the rule of law." That's really an insult to everyone's intelligence. We know that isn't what happened. Mueller did not invent the concept of special privileges for powerful politicians who place themselves above the law. But he certainly did nothing to bring the rule of law when it mattered the most. He could have been a lot more aggressive, and he could have used some of his considerable capital to do the right thing for the American people. Instead, he chose not to do it.
We don't know what kind of threats, real or perceived, Mueller might have been under. With each passing day, we see that the entire Trump-Putin affair was the product of 30 years of lawlessness involving some -- make that HUNDREDS -- of the most powerful people on the planet. So I am willing to give Mueller some benefit of the doubt that he was going up against something far bigger than him and his considerable reputation. But I'll be damned if I ever agree he demonstrated a "rentless commitment to the rule of law." That simply did not happen, so let's not make up fairy tales. We need honest dialog more than ever.
