2. Space lasers. Intersteller time travelers. Government controlling our weather. Chem trails. Gay bathrooms. blah blah

Maybe there are aliens visiting us. If so, they have mastered a level of physics far beyond our knowledge. They can either travel faster than the speed of light or they know how to manipulate wormholes to jump across thousands of light years in an instant. And if so, we will be completely powerless to do anything about that.

These Florida Republicans love to throw out all kinds of irrelevant shit to take our attention off the things we actually CAN do something about.

And as Begala implied, if we are visited by interstellar travelers, I am sure they don't need to stick probes up our asses. They will clearly have technologies to tell them anything they need to know.

This woman sounds like a nitwit to me with all her references to "they told us things we don't understand". Here' what she needs to understand. There is no intelligent live in our solar system. There may or may not be some very primitive traces of life, but certainly nothing in our solar system that could travel here. The closest star to us (in our little spiral arm in the Milky Way) is Proxima Centauri. There is no reason to believe there is any intelligent life there -- no electromagnetic signals, nothing that would indicate any advanced technology. But let's say there is a duper race there. That's more than 4 light-years away. That means that if they could travel at the speed of light, the one-way trip would be more than 4 earth-years. The fastest object humanity has ever launched goes 1/10,000 the speed of light. So to make the trip in 4 years, they would have to go 10,000 times faster than any object ever launched by man.

On average, a star in the Milky Way is about 500,000 light years away from Earth. So even in our own galaxy, it is extraordinarily unlikely that a space traveler would make this trek in anything like a conventional spaceship, or even the fanciful ones in the movies. And that's just the Milky Way. The next closest galaxy, Andromeda, us 2.5 million light years away. You can't get there flying a spaceship. Not a chance. Any travel over such distances would have to master some of the quirks Einstein theorized about.

I like Dr. Who and Star Trek as much as the next person, but this woman is completely clueless to the laws of physics we have to live under.

and she didn’t “break character” or whatever that means. The real question is why someone like that was given the platform.

And I thought she was surprisingly honest about the presidential primary question. She didn't deflect.

good at her job. Then she claimed she was authentic. Then she hid her smile behind a mug of water. I think it was a tell. Her whole presentation was how serious the issues were the Republicans are dealing with.

Anna Paulina Luna: ‘JD is the type of person who did come from a normal upbringing. We need more of that in Washington DC.’ WHAT? If I recall correctly, his drug addicted mother and absentee father abandoned him to be raised by his grandparents. While Vance obviously cannot be blamed for the failings of his parents, that is not ‘a normal upbringing’. And it’s certainly not something we need more of.

when she said it. It was a bit weird. I would think Marco Rubio had more of a normal upbringing and I know nothing about his family.
