CA-11: In bid for Congress, Connie Chan (D) offers a 'pragmatic' track record

Connie Chan said she hopes to bring decades of experience in San Francisco city politics — and the tax-the-rich, fund-social-services philosophy she formed here — to the U.S. Congress.

Chan’s North Star over nearly six years on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors has been an ethos she says is badly needed in Washington, D.C., under President Donald Trump.

“This is an unprecedented moment,” Chan told The Examiner. “American people are looking at the Congress and looking at the Trump administration — they are not delivering for the working people.”

Chan is one of four prominent Democrats running to replace retiring Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and the belief that Trump is failing common Americans won’t set her apart from the field. Neither will her opposition to the Trump administration’s steep cuts to social safety-net programs and military intervention in Venezuela and Iran.
