BOSTON, MA – The 2026 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award® will be presented to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for protecting the independence of the Federal Reserve, which is critical to the stability of the global economy, despite years of personal attacks and threats from the highest levels of government. The people of the Twin Cities of Minnesota will also be honored for risking their lives to protect their neighbors and immigrant community members from an unprecedented federal law enforcement operation, peacefully defending the human rights and values that serve as the foundation of our Constitutional democracy.

The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award is presented annually by the JFK Library Foundation to public servants for making a courageous decision of conscience without regard for the personal or professional consequences. Caroline Kennedy and Jack Schlossberg will present the award at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on May 31, 2026 in Boston, MA.

Statement from Kennedy and Schlossberg:
“This year’s honorees represent the courage of those who serve in all areas of government–and those who believe in it. Without public servants of integrity committed to maintaining the highest standards of institutional excellence and independence like Chair Powell, and citizens willing to put their lives on the line to hold America to its promises, our democracy can’t survive. This year we honor the courage of those who didn’t seek elected office but have demonstrated moral courage across our society.”

The concept that trump deserves a Profile in Courage award made me laugh. I also love the fact that Jerome Powell and the City of Minneapolis got these awards. The grants of these awards to Powell and Minneapolis are basically great F##K Yous to trump

During an appearance on MS NOW’s “The Weekend,” Jack Schlossberg, son of Caroline Kennedy, burst into laughter at the suggestion that Donald Trump might want to be given one of the “Profiles in Courage" awards that have been given to Democrats and Republicans alike.

Appearing to promote the upcoming ceremony for the award given annually by the Kennedy family to recognize displays of courage similar to those former President John F. Kennedy, Sclossberg was put on the spot by co-host Jackie Alemany.

“There have been a number of notable recipients who have received the JFK Profile in Courage award in the past decade,” Alemany prompted her guest. “There's Jerome Powell, Barack Obama, Mike Pence, George H.W. Bush, Zelenskyy, Gabby Giffords, Mitt Romney, John Lewis. Obviously, a number of those people are Republicans.”

“Given Donald Trump's proclivity for anything with the last name Kennedy on it and his love of receiving awards, is there anything that would ever warrant your family's consideration of Donald Trump receiving this award? Anything that he could do that would make you all consider that?” she asked.

After a short burst of laughter, Scholssberg smirked and checked off a list of suggestions for the always attention-starved president.

“If President Trump admitted to the many crimes and the grift that he has committed while president in office, stepped down and handed over the power of the presidency to somebody responsible and not somebody in his own cabinet,” he replied with tongue in cheek.
