So we are hearing that a lint fire

that took 30 hours to put out, has put one of our biggest naval vessels out of commission for 12 to 14 months....

I also saw somewhere that it might have been sabotage.

that is always an indication of a military organization in disarray. Training and ongoing care and repair are far more critical to military readiness than militant pep talks and more time in the gym!

It wouldn’t shock me if a lint fire was done on purpose.

There’s a lot of junk on this link but it’s a good read.

‘Psychological Breaking Point’: U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Gerald R. Ford Has Been Pushed To Its Limits
The USS Gerald R. Ford was designed as an engineering marvel, but a record-breaking 11-month deployment has pushed the supercarrier to its limits. Facing mechanical fatigue and the aftermath of a March 2026 fire, the CVN-78 now highlights a critical mismatch between U.S. naval commitments and available resources.

…is that, if one of our adversaries reported a lint fire that burned for 30 hours, and that would take the carrier out of action for a year, the default assumption would be that they’re hiding something.

I've seen scattershot news reports covering the duration. How it supposedly started. Even the source of the fire seems to be conjecture. I'm not holding my breath for anything definitive from this administration.

I just hope that all injured sailors have a full recovery. But we are stretching our military too thin with no apparent plan at the whim of Trump.

couldn't separate the concepts of a lint fire and navel vessels.

I hope no one's been hurt.
