Our plans for 2026 election

We live in a heavily Democratic area of Northern Virginia that also has a very large Hispanic population. In our 80's; we have voted in every election since we turned 21 (the voting age back then), including voting absentee when overseas on my military assignments.

Virginia will hold primary Congressional election in August 2026 and, of course, the federal Congressional election in Nov 2026.

My wife does not drive, must use a walker, sometimes a wheelchair. I'm in good shape.

We are very concerned about federal thugs around our polling places in August and November, thus, we have decided:

-- She will apply for absentee ballot by mail. Immediately upon receipt of the ballot, she will mark it, put it in the return envelopes, and we will deposit it in the local drop box --- assuming we can still vote by mail. This way, she does not have to confront the federal thugs.

-- I will vote in person. I will empty my pockets of everything but a small wallet containing driver's license, voter ID card, and a few dollars; my cell phone; a handkerchief. No pocket knife, no ballpoint pen, nothing that could be construed as a weapon. If I am confronted by a federal thug demanding ID, I will refuse and calmly attempt to walk around him/her -- with my arms raised. I will steadfastly, calmly, peacefully refuse to show them a damn thing. I will show my ID ONLY to the pollbook officer inside the precinct, as is required by Virginia law. If they beat the shit out of me, shoot me, whatever, well . . . that's the price of freedom . . . and, no, I am not a hero. Just an old soldier, old man, who will take no more shit.
