MSNOW and Pod Save America

I noticed that MSNOW is featuring Crooked Media's "Pod Save America" on at least Sunday afternoon.

Pretty straightforward content, but with "fuck" and "shit" sprinkled into the language mix on the show. This is a minor change in MSNOW's style. Since the FCC doesn't control cable TV, they can freely use that language, and it appears that they are shifting in that direction, at least experimentally.

No sweat for me, but it's likely to cause some pearl clutching among some viewers. I wonder if this is going to be a trend as MSNOW finds its new bearings. It could also be a money-saving strategy they're testing. It has to be cheaper to air an hour from a contract content provider than hiring people. So, I wonder if that's going to be a trend, too.

However, it's not what people are used to hearing on the TV. So, there's going to be some blowback. It may be that MSNOW is testing that right now.

As a stand-alone content service, it's going to want to try some novel things to see what works with audiences.

but their gratuitous use cheapens their argument IMO. Those words lose their ‘punch’ when they’re overused.

I sort of thought the same thing as I watched he program. I know that some people drop those words into almost every sentence, but I'm sure not used to hearing it on TV. Like I said, MSNOW is testing the waters with this. We'll see.
