Sounds great, right?
Then it gets a little wild.
He wants Vance to appoint Senator Chris Murphy as his VP and then announce that he, Vance, will not seek election in 2028.

I've been joking with my husband that the only way to end this conflict in Iran is for the con to resign. Yeah, that won't happen.
Invoking the 25th sadly won't happen either but I guess it's good that there is a least some discussion about it among Conservatives.

(165 posts)ie... Vance, if he weren't a power mad manipulative tool, would invoke the 25th to get Trump out of office so we can back off all this insanity and then by vowing not to run himself, it doesn't look like he is just doing it for himself but for the country.

(25,900 posts)I get the theory on trying to make it look like Vance did not act on his own behalf but for the good of the country. But what makes anyone think that Vance would actually step aside when he is bought and paid for by Thiel? And has a self-centered ego? And Thiel would not let his investment go down the drain.
Cabinet members can also call for the 25th, but none of them would.
Can Congress do it?
