30-40 percent of Gulf energy infrastructure destroyed (!)

https://www.france24.com/en/france-confirms-oil-crisis-says-30-40-gulf-energy-infrastructure-destroyed

France's Finance Minister Roland Lescure revealed on Wednesday that between 30 and 40 per cent of Gulf refining capacity has been damaged or destroyed by Iran's retaliatory strikes, leaving a shortage of 11 million barrels a day on global oil markets. Lescure warned it could take up to three years to restore damaged facilities, and several months to restart those that were urgently shut down.

3. If we globally used this as an opportunity to go all in on renewable energy, this would never need to happen again.

Red rags hanging on sticks in front of gas stations in the 70s, you’d think this would be solved by now. But it’s hard to counter people who constantly put their money and resources thwarting change. The WH had solar panels until Reagan took them off. The fossil fuel industry has mucked up the Global Warming/Climate Change discussion at every level.

If change is going to happen it will have to be made at the lowest levels because all the upper decision makers are hopelessly contaminated. I leased an EV last September and just had solar installed on my house. I encourage anyone who wants change to take their own steps to ween themselves off of fossil fuels.

6. I totally agree. I haven't seen the will at the grass roots level, but maybe that will change.

I have a hybrid and live in a walking town. (Didn't get an EV because I live in an apartment and couldn't charge it at home.) So if I fill my 7 gallon tank once a month, it's a lot. The auto gas prices don't do much to me. I can't imagine having one of those asinine trucks and having to drive to get everything you need.

We still do use oil and gas for heat for the building, which cost is horrifying. The roof just doesn't have enough surface area to make much of a dent in our heating costs.

5. So the price of gas is not going to drop in a few weeks?

President Donald Trump has predicted that gas prices will "come tumbling down" and drop significantly once the military conflict with Iran and the resulting disruption in the Middle East ends.
