I donated generously to Kamala in 2024 and more recently to Mark Kelly during his attack by Hegseth. Now, it seems that every institution looking for support has my number, address, and e-address.
I receive a dozen emails/text messages daily looking for monetary support from different coalitions to combat this administration. In addition, alternative news media is relentless
they cant get along without me. Also, candidates whom Im not aware of from other states send their requests for support. Finally, there is the good cause platitudes.
I think whats even more annoying is the mail I receive almost daily from various Democratic ideologues. I don't mind sending in replies to surveys, however, when I think of the cost of these types of mass mail outs, I just shake my head.
Im just a boomer on a modest pension. I know I can ignore or block all of this. I just think there is a lot of money not being spent in judicious manner from the progressive party.

(6,269 posts)It happened to me as well. I finally had enough and started marking every fund raising text and email as spam. It took a while, but I no longer receive any.

(1,925 posts)Im determined not to sign any more petitions. In the last couple weeks, Ive been getting TONS of come-ons to donate to something or other (helloIm POOR!), and now theyre starting to come as messages via my PHONE NUMBER, as well! I NEVER include my number on petitions, so what the hell? Theyre coming from politicians, from every possible cause, and from people I cant even figure out who they represent because there are so damned many of them.
Apparently, everything must be monetized now, and there is no such thing as privacy. Big money in creating a cause, it would seem.
Im more than a little pissed.

(3,523 posts)Constant fundraising texts.
No matter how many times I unsubscribe, I just keep getting them.
I think it is a big problem that our fundraising apparatus needs to address. Not everyone can fundraise like Obama. Not every message needs to be "I'm so, so sorry but this is urgent! Send $5 today"

(17 posts)Going back to the 2020 Primaries. By Sept. 2024 election I became annoyed, due to the daily barrage of emails asking for $.
Now, I dont think anyone who donated didnt vote for her. But if she runs in 2028, she wont start at the top of my list. I can think of five potential Dems that would be my choice over her.
Huge mistake by her campaign IMO.

(102,664 posts)Since everyone's info is in the hands of unknown entities, I am not willing to blame the original contact. I suspect that there is some kind of hack that sends a multiple of any that you may have welcomed at some point. Especially if it's a political donation thing.
The objective is to cause you to be annoyed at those you donated to so that you'll not only be disinclined to do so again, you'll sour on the candidate as well when they have no control over the number of contacts you receive.

(469 posts)Ill donate again. The midterms will just have to take care of themselves. At the moment, this ignorant creature is doing everything to alienate the population. A blue wave will make the last two years of its reign even more frustrating
..perhaps resulting in a premature its ouster.

(26,253 posts)the following junk emails and stuff, asking for yet more donations. I'll never donate again to a cause. Never.

(4,975 posts)The decline option is somewhat hidden.
Some have an automatic cut going to the initial collectors of the donation.
I saw one that had two cuts taken out as it finally forwarded to the politician/cause.

(33,422 posts)I finished my list, and my email is a breeze and not a quagmire anymore.
You should be able to stop those texts immediately with a single click. It does take more effort and persistence for the email, though.
Stay encouraged, BeneteauBum. ❤️

But....my wife and I went to a Democratic get together months ago, gave her people our contact info, and we get texts from them every day begging for $15.
Seriously, probably 7 or 8 texts each week for both of us.
I wonder if the candidates even know that their campaign staffs are hounding supporters for money.
I look forward to Secretary Haaland becoming our next governor, but my wife and I have had to block her texts on our devices.

(35,074 posts)to any message with certain key words. It works beautifully. Next, I turned on spam protection in Google Messages. Between the spam protection and my automatic responses, things are much much easier for me now.
The only group on my safe list is the Georgia Democrats because I still want to get invites to big events.
My key words that trigger an automatic "STOP" response:
If you set this up, 99% of your political spam will be resolved.

(9,043 posts)I'm retired on a fixed income and can't help these people. I contribute to a few causes on a regular basis. I give to my regional food bank, planned parenthood, red cross, national organization for women, and a couple others.
The rest I give to my local landfill.
I bet I get several hundred pounds of junk solicitations each year. What a waste!
This just the actual physical mail, I also get about a dozen e-mail solicitations a day. They go in the electronic trash; I don't even open them.

(469 posts)Just the volume of physical mail astounds me. I wonder if there is data generated on the efficacy of these types of mail outs. Is the cost of postage, material, and printing worth the reciprocal value?

I stopped a bunch of texts, but I still get 10-15 per day. It's exhausting, and stopping the texts is only partially helpful.

Dont feel guilty and look out for yourself. I have the same concerns as you. I think there are too many people grifting off the party. Too many so called consultants providing absolutely no value.

(29,055 posts)and oligarchs and why they "don't fight.". A BS purity test to discourage support of Democrats.
Of course this gives the advantage to Republicans with unlimited funding.
And of course, blame Democrats, not the BS accusers. Everyone needs to push back when Democrats are slandered.
