have had their reputations damaged and their careers ended because of their inclusion in the Epstein emails. The NYT had an article about a retired former head of an art museum. It was interesting as it explains how it was his job to find donors and he was adept at networking to do so. It also meant flattering potential or continuing donors. Unlike him, his wife had always found Epstein and Maxwell creepy. Per the article, he was unaware of Epstein's trafficking and thought Epstein had been framed in his conviction.

Personally, given the emails between them mentioning Epstein's conviction, it is clear that he turned a blind eye because it was in his own interest as Epstein was still potentially good for donations.
In contrasts he view himself as someone who worked at providing art that anyone could see - a noble goal. His current reality is of being seen as one of the people exposed as part of the Epstein world.
Worse than people like him, there are many people who were likely involved in facilitating Epstein's crimes, participating in the crimes and helping him get that sweetheart deal which gave him additional years to exploit girls. Most of these people have likely not been exposed
This art museum person, like many people leading NPOs, university departments, and political campaigns live in a world where raising money is needed to achieve the goals they proudly stand by. That money comes in large part from the network of elite people.
The problem is that a genuinely evil person gained a veneer of respectability because he was seen with top scientists, businessmen and politicians. This long drawn out Epstein saga should lead to more caution in who these people are willing to take contributions from.
Buys big privileges and many of them are morally repugnant. Not everyone is equal under the law.

(60,956 posts)Since I was in college in the 1970s, good people have advocated for the need to get money out of politics. Now, I see that as the tip of the iceberg. A better society would adequately fund museums, universities and other institutions.
Not doing this creates both the opportunity for the rich and the need for the institutions to sell respectability. The Metropolitan Museum of Art removed the Sackler name on the area with the Temple of Dendar in 2021 as the opioid scandal grew.

(4,727 posts)Surreal, the final heel to the heads of women and victims of abuse. The most vile rats committing these crimes and these are just the ones we know about. It goes from the city rats to the country rats
but most mind boggling thing is how the orange one can stay in power with vans full of evidence and stacks of guilty verdicts! Justice for all!

(9,960 posts)"sex crimes" committed. There may be other charges many people can be charged with but that's not clear. Regardless, every person who committed any crime with or related to Epstein needs to be identified and publicly named. The entire world needs to be informed about what these horrible vile men (and women*) did.
*We know the majority of criminals involved with Epstein were men, but there were definitely some women (even beyond Ghislane Maxwell) who aided and abetted him.

All the people who helped him have expired also with exception if they could find any murders, those are forever and if Trump, or any other well known person did or ordered any killings it could be why everyone involved is quiet and wants to silence it.
I am sure many of the rich have told Trump if I go down so will you.
