(77,753 posts)"WHEN he's on our side there's nobody better." It's a service to let people know who the guests are, for us to decide whether to look at parts of it or none. I don't know the numbers but he has a representative number from all sides, and when the MAGAts go over the top he does good smackdowns on them. And when he doesn't smack down enough I post angrily about him. But above all, one of the Liberal core principles is Free Speech - being able to be open to the reality of what's out there, not to do the ostrich thing because knowledge is power, not to live in a bubble. It is the MAGAts who try to pretend that the enemy doesn't exist, the way the Repukes of Olde denied the existence of "Red China." And we also have in our Lib DNA to look within ourselves to find root causes, while Wingnuts look outside for whom to blame, us digesting constructive criticism. And at least part of what he does is to hurl SOME constructive criticism for improving our strategies to win. Not how totally Wingnut operatives pretend to give us (unasked for) "advice," when it's obvious they are just mocking.
This dude claims to be an "old style" Lib (although he's now on board with the MAGAt deception that America's "greatness" was when the 1950s Father Knows Best White days was the norm), and so far claims to donate millions to Dem nominees and votes for them.
I don't watch most of the time, and mostly YouTube clips of the monolog, New Rules, and after-thing, and good guests or bad ones being slapped down. Plus, I don't Follow or "watch" hardly anything - movies, long stuff - just have things on the shelf in the background while doing *this*.
*** Like on DU, it's easy to *skip* the stuff not liked and not feeling obligated to tell the world of almighty disapproval of what others post. There are thousands of other things out there, so why spend aura on what's not liked instead of what's liked?
*** *THANK* you, Rhiannon12866 (255,215 posts), for the YEARS of DU service!

(5,161 posts)So with this logic, you would shrink the Democratic Party and essentially hand the elections to the other major party.
Would you be happy then?

(77,753 posts)He doesn't seem to be popular with his comic peers. Who's going to show up to do the praisefest? COULTERgeist, Rob SCHNEIDER, Dennis MILLER? If KRASNOV sees it as a chance to roast him and MAHER grins and bears it, it will be a humiliating stain for whatever's left of him.

(2,953 posts)I'm looking forward to Sen. Elissa Slotkin.
◦ In 2024, Slotkin said she supported federal legislation to codify the abortion rights established in Roe v. Wade.
◦ In 2022, she co-sponsored the Ban Corporate PACs Act, which, if enacted, would prevent corporations from operating a political action committee.
◦ In 2022, she voted for H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022.
◦ In both the 116th and 117th Congresses, Slotkin received a 100% rating from Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Congressional Scorecard, which measures "support for equality" among members of Congress based on their voting record. HRC endorsed her in each of her campaigns for the House.
And I've always liked Laura Coates, so she should be good as well. I really can't stomach Smith, however. Oh well.
And of course, his opening and New Rules are always fun.
