Get your shit together, the goal is to remove that fucking concern troll Collins, not to pout over not getting a pony if your candidate doesnt come out of the primary.
Stay focused on the larger, fucking objective.
No link, I dont give money to goofy, baldheaded billionaires.

(1,771 posts)I'm not in Maine, but I would have some serious reservations about voting for a guy who had a nazi tattoo, finally got rid of it, then backtracked on admitting it was a nazi related tattoo and is a proclaimed long time fan of an antisemitic show. That's a lot of baggage you're trying to lump under getting a pony.

That's what the nastiness is.
Maine Democrats need to be aware of who and what is on their primary ballot.

(23,138 posts)Which excludes pro-filibuster, anti-labor Mills from the equation.
Senators elected in 2026 will be in office in 2029, when the next Democratic president is sworn in. In order to restore rights lost and repair the damage and destruction of the Trump era, the MAGA majority on SCOTUS must be neutralized, otherwise any legislation can be blocked by the filibuster or if passed, overturned by the Roberts court.
Therefore, we must strive to only elect senators who are willing to expand the court, and to kill the filibuster in order to do so.
That is the larger, fucking objective.
Blocking confirmation of Trumps nominees is a very important short term objective, and the way things are going with 2024 Trump +20 districts shifting 15-30 points toward the Dems, Maine may not be as critical as once thought. We are likely to pick up OH and NC, keep Ossoffs seat in GA, and chances continue to improve in IA, AK, MT.
If we fail to retake the senate (it was always going to be an uphill battle), and Clarence and Alito retire and are replaced by, say, Melania and Barron, it wont matter for long if the senators we do elect in 2026 support expanding the court and killing the filibuster to do so. The senate map in 2028 favors Dems, and if we maintain our focus on the larger objective and elect pro-expansion/anti-filibuster senators, as well as a president who supports court expansion, then the path to Post-Trump Reconstruction becomes much more feasible.

(12,550 posts)Destroying your fellow Democrat is a bad look and an even worse strategy. We want her to stop it.
Yes, it's true a lot of us are unsure about Platner. But he could very well win the primary, and we don't want a hurt and bleeding candidate up against Collins.

Mills knows the score, platner sounds like some high school kid who suddenly realized that he might need to rethink some of his views.
And he may be a repug plant too.
I don't trust him and will not be wasting my vote on him. As Mills said in an interview recently, all of those who challenged collins in the past were newbies who had never run for a statewide office before and they all lost.
Mills has won several statewide elections and I will be voting for her.
