More rats fleeing

Olivia Beavers @Olivia_Beavers
“I think it is time for me to step down,” Graves said in an interview. “I filed for re-election, and I was still kind of evaluating…my next chapter in life, and what that might look like.” He said he made the decision earlier this week.

He is joining dozens of other lawmakers who are retiring from Congress at the end of this term. Graves is leaving after 13 terms.

...but Graves was in the leadership of the Transportation conmmittee for decades and even got his seat extended beyond republicans term limits.

It should spark a scramble among republicans for the seat which has gone uncontested for a while, I think.

And the guy was a raging bigot and xenophobe, like most of them, and who knows what will happen in the present political climate where republicans seats are being flipped in special elections wil bring to what should be a noticible wave of support everywhere for not-republicans.

...Trump got elected on the votes of a lot of republicans who were willing to look past his history in expectation the utopia he promised in his rallies would come to pass.

So much of that is now just fodder for Democratic opposition. Like, we don't know yet how many of them feel the same compulsion to reject their party. That's why it's good to push wedges like this one to divide and overtake them with political advocacy that includes their own expectations from government which have gone unfulfilled; like the Trump economy and ME wars. for example.

We should hope others in and outside of the party follow this fellow's lead and sit the next few elections out.
