The Trump administration implemented significant cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, largely through the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act." This legislation, passed in 2025, aims to reduce SNAP funding by roughly $186 billion over 10 years, impacting eligibility and benefits for millions of low-income Americans, veterans, and adults.

Key actions and impacts of these SNAP changes include:
Expanded Work Requirements: The age limit for work requirements was raised to include adults up to age 64, forcing them to work 20 hours a week or lose benefits after three months, according to the Harvard Kennedy School.

Reduced Benefits: Approximately 600,000 low-income households are expected to see an average cut of $100 per month due to changes in utility expense calculations, notes the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Reduced Coverage: The Congressional Budget Office estimates that 2.4 million fewer people will qualify for benefits under these changes, as shown in this YouTube video.

Cutting food stamps that families depended on is a lift? Are people happy that they no longer need food stamps, or are people struggling more than ever to put food on the table?

He threw them off.
