Yahoo News: Jeff Bezos Says 'I Would Love To See A Trillion Humans Living In The Solar System' Then We Could Have '1,000 Mozarts And 1,000 Einsteins'I find this mind-numbingly stupid. If we want more Mozarts and Einsteins it would make more sense to increase the quality of life here on Earth and the opportunities of the huge number of people who are currently starving, oppressed, uneducated, and lacking any means of exploiting any potential they may have as they struggle just to stay alive.
In other words, Bezos is implying that one in a billion humans can currently become a Mozart, and the same for an Einstein. I'm saying a more realistic remedy is not to increase the population but to increase that ratio.

There are 1000 Mozarts right here on earth right now if we cultivate them.

(1,361 posts)There is no planet B, we evolved to live on this planet. The ass hats we keep handing money to cant even get us back to the moon, and we did that already decades ago with inferior technology.
We can barely run a space station much less build something like an artificial habitat with Earth like conditions orbiting the Earth. Here is an idea, stop overpopulation and start taking care of the environment here. Earth would have to be completely uninhabitable before anyone tried to live on yet another lifeless rock like Mars, underground.
No water, no air, no life, no anything. Sounds like a great time! Im sure people would be signing up by the millions.

(52,328 posts)Based on where we are today, with billionaires like Jeff Bezos keeping us from reaching humanitarian objectives, it's best that the Solar System never know we exist.
With our dumb luck the first people that aliens will meet in space will be people like Bezos and if we are judged by their character, it wouldn't take much for an advanced alien race to wipe us out in revenge.
