President Trump told reporters the U.S. will leave Iran “within two weeks.”

He added: “We will be leaving very soon, and if France or some other country wants to get oil or gas, they will go up through the Hormuz Strait and will be able to fend for themselves. But we have nothing to do with that. What happens in the Strait—we aren’t going to have anything to do with it. There is no reason for us to do it.”

The USA is a net energy exporter, but not a net crude exporter. The frackers produce oil that doesn't refine well in our stateside refineries, sell that overseas, then we collectively import (even MORE than we export) crude from Canada, Mexico, VZ, and even some from the Middle East, that is of the sort the our refineries handle well.

The US frackers/extraction companies are going to make a killing, but the US refineries are going to be paying inflated prices (since the US buys about 5.5M barrels/day on the world market), and therefore prices for petrol here are going to be sky high, cause the refiners still have to hit their margins.

The idea that the USA just "doesn't need" the 20% that's being lost on the world market is a freaking joke. It's going to fuck consumers over HARD.
