at one point prior to opening it was down close to 400 dollars at the opening and right now its up 124.00 dollars...............and now it has fallen again and lost a whopping 63 dollars, all figures are rounded..................so Dow Jones .............Fathers and Mothers did your kid volunteer to go fight.............with Iran...............you do realize that the only thing the orange hair traitor sees is what happens to money...................and you WS are basically giving him a pass................nothing else matter unless he can sharpie his name on something and destroy the white house for his ego to have his treasonous name on something..........

(55,166 posts)no one knows what to do, every time he says something it reverses a day later, every move in one direction is countered by something diametrically opposite within hours.
That being said, markets are mass behavior, and are recorded in statistical-based charts ... for centuries. I wonder if he could demolish technical analysis? Or double-entry bookkeeping? You know that laws, norms, customs, and sanity went out long ago. I rest my case.

(1,802 posts)Stop looking at every fluctuation and expecting it to be perfectly linear with what you think it should do. It never does that because there's so many stocks, so many brokers, people doing shorts and longs, etc. Look at longer term patterns.

(17,155 posts)It's not a measure of the entire stock market, but only 30 individual stocks. Sometimes, it just takes one or two of them to go up or down to cause it to change. Any individual investor may not hold any of them.
People get worked up over daily swings of a few hundred points when that represents just 1% of the total value.
