Unbothered by Reality, Trump Gives Disjointed Update on Iran War
And then theres Donald Trumps speech Wednesday night. In a little more than 19 minutes, the incumbent President offered a meandering series of statements that were as contradictory as they were unhelpful to his failing attempts to rally the world behind the joint military operation by the U.S. and Israel to eliminate the threat of a nuclear Iran. Yes, the Ayatollah and much of his leadership team have been killed. (Theyre all dead. The new group is less radical and much more reasonable, Trump boasted.) But the regime survives, with Irans military having closed the Strait of Hormuz to most oil freighters and continuing to launch reactionary strikes at others in the region.
In one moment, he predicted the Strait of Hormuz will just open up naturally. In another, he told buyers of Middle East oil to take responsibility for the passage that is crippled in response to the U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran. The United States imports almost no oil through the Hormuz Strait and wont be taking any in the future. We dont need it. We havent needed it, and we dont need it, Trump said. We will be helpful, but they should take the lead in protecting the oil that they so desperately depend on.
Why the hell is gas at 4.00per gallon and diesel at above 5.00 if we don't need that oil,
