US destroyed 2 stuck C-130s during rescue mission, official says

Two C-130 aircraft that were part of the mission to rescue the second F-15 crew member became stuck at a location inside Iran during the operation, a U.S. official told ABC News.

U.S. forces deliberately destroyed the disabled aircraft so they would not fall into Iranian hands. As a result, additional replacement aircraft had to be flown into Iran to take the airman and the rescue teams out of the country, the official said.

I think those aircraft are used to transport troops, and sometimes to carry paratroopers who jump from them. John1956PA Yesterday #2

Maybe they didn't use the planes in the rescue, so if they remained, they would have been "stuck"? LeftInTX Yesterday #10

While fishing it sunk into the soft ground. The farmer unsuccessfully attempted to pull it out with his small tractor which also sunk.
They probably decided to land the replacement planes in the upper field where they wouldn't get stuck.

If they used a helicopter or other plane to get the pilot out, the transport planes probably were not worth the risk to retrieve.

Sorta like, "I'm stuck in the house because my mom grounded me"...Not literally "stuck"

It is possible the planes were physically stuck in sand or muck, or they are using the other form of common usage such as "We're stuck with Trump"....."I'm stuck living here"....

Either way, they did not want Iran to obtain the planes.
