that he will announce later today, and the absolutely insane bluster is at worst a bit of face saving, or (for the MAGAs) politicking, to say that he terrified them into submission.

That's basically the line that's being spread on neutral boards.

I do think there's a non-zero chance that this is accurate, since Trump seems to have gone way out on a limb here. I also think there's a chance he has absolutely lost the plot.

The (second) bombing of Kharg Island together with the Israelis attempting to cut train and bridge lines suggests that they will try to do an invasion of Kharg Island at the very least. If Trump is bluffing, he will call it a great diversion for the landing operation.
