I don't recognize this Wesley Clark

Anyone remember General Wesley Clark, who ran for President as a Democrat and ridiculed dubya for "prancing around on a flight deck" during the "mission accomplished" spectacle?

Well, he is now defending trump's Iran strategy on CNN. He said, among other things, that we are only six weeks in and we need to give it more time to break the will of the Iranian regime. He said that if we destroy Iranian infrastructure it will lead to them being isolated economically and that will lead to them being more reasonable. He also said that if it gets bad the Iranian people will rise up. He did not express concern at all for civilian lives in the segment that I heard.

I was shocked and disappointed. CNN is in sanewash overdrive this morning.

Even if these guys make money off of the war, if everything gets blown up
in the process, that might not help them?

But I knew people who got very rich off the Viet Nam war.

He had spent almost his entire adult life in the military and, as was the norm, did not take political positions. So, when he ran two things were true. He had no public positions or, for the most part, comments from past decades to defend. He also had no political experience.

The latter doomed his campaign. He did not run in Iowa, spending his time in New Hampshire, where his inexperience caused his initial support to implode even before Iowa. Those voters, some of whom originally Dean moved to undecided and most moved to Kerry after Iowa.

As a former top military person, he was welcomed by us when he attacked Bush. I think it is interesting that Obama made former Republican Senator Hagel the Secretary of Defense, but there was never any public discussion of Clark.

I was a Clarkie way back in the day. Still have the campaign sticker on my toolbox. I’ve become a leftist since then and he’s probably stayed the same.

Today me would have slapped 2003 me.

I would have seen this coming.

Generals like war.

Some body gotta call Stephanie Miller Wednesday to ask Carlos about this stance. Oh, never mind, there will be no Wednesday.
Today’s date: 4-7. Coincidence.

Think of the Bday party you can have tomorrow, if his ass is drug out of our house by the best of our military and locked up with his cohorts!
My BDay wish for your, 72 comes and many more prosperous ones follow without MAGA control.

Remember when the German citizenry rose up deposed Hitler when Germany was bombed to rubble? Oh, wait. That didn't happen. There's no reason to believe it will happen in Iran.

Clark is wrong in all likelihood.

We are NOT in a declared war which allows your wish list fantasies to be realized.

You used to be employed by us. Now you are a free lancer stoking the flames of war.

I will bash him because he is NO LONGER a Democratic figure!

What's in HIS portfolio! We live in an age of war profiteering and everyone needs to be looked at that may have a conflict and is attempting to influence public opinion! War is good for media paychecks!

He is talking tactics of an ILLEGAL war! Get congressional approval and I will shut up!

I was struck by his complete inability to criticize (even mildly) the lack of legality for any of this, the fact that civilian targets are not to be hit according to NATO (didn't he oversee NATO at one point) or the breaking apart of NATO altogether through threats and unilateral action.
