They're great leaders. Just wonderful
But we need to support them in the following:
An emergency press conference
1) Call for Vice President Vance and Trump's cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment
2) Call for Congress to Impeach and Remove Donald Trump
3) Call for the Miltary to stand down should they be given illegal orders
4) Ask all Americans to contact their representatives

(26,234 posts)Every representative running in November needs to be on their social media calling Trump demented, crazy, lazy and fucking Nuts.
He sounds incoherent and crazy because he is. We're in wonderland people and it sucks.

(192 posts)Short of illegal, political violence, which I find to be unacceptable, there is not a single meaningful things Democrats can do right now. ANY statement to the contrary is an admission that one lacks the ability to count to simple numbers like 218 and 67.

(40,851 posts)This is about an oath taken to the U.S. Constitution. It's in their job descriptions
They work FOR US, regardless of who does or doesn't vote for them

(192 posts)You have a few choices.
1. Suggest an action they can take that actually DOES something to stop Trump and his admin from doing the shit they are doing. None of this "show courage" bullshit. That doesn't mean anything.
2. Admit that you are in fact wanting to see them attempt to use violence as a means to shut these people down.
3. Admit that we don't actually have the numbers in the House and Senate to do anything other than run our mouths.
Those are the only options, period.
The third option is the sane option. You should take that one and then aim your critical fire at Republicans, where its belongs.

(40,851 posts)They work for us. They are our leaders and should be giving us statements and directions
Can you be certain that GOPer voters won't also be swarming their elected's phone and social media outlets? Do you think voters and non-voters are monolithic in their red/blue left/right attitude when it comes to annihilating another country and potentially using nukes?

(192 posts)Be realistic, no wishful thinking or any other ineffective, symbolic, nothing-burger ideas.
If you can't answer that with a CONCRETE response, then you're just blowing smoke, like most people who are making similar statements about the Dems.
We need 218 House votes and 67 Senate votes to do anything that matters. Tell me which Republicans are going to break and join us and remove him from office? I want a list of specific names and substantial reasons as to why anyone should believe said list.
Also, FYI, here is your statement from Jeffries and House leadership, its a good statement, it will also solve nothing because they have no legal power or authority over a damn thing:

(40,851 posts)It'd be interesting to see the reactions from people who've never voted, and people who gave up voting
They may think things are bleak and pointless enough for a vote to remove all elected representatives

(192 posts)Said person complains that the Dems aren't doing anything or aren't going far enough.
I respond with the reality of how math works when it comes to our system of government.
They sidestep the irrefutable facts of that math, dance around it, offer up platitudes that lead nowhere or change the subject.
I've been having this conversation since 2009 and its always the same.
I'm not out to piss people off but it seems to have that effect. I'm just stating reality.
The American people, as a whole, voted for this nonsense and we all have to suffer because we live in a country full of a lot of terrible people.

(1,827 posts)Partially to make sure the world knows Trump doesn't speak for all of us, partially so it's clear within the country given the elections in November.

(192 posts)And votes already know that most Democrats, running or re-running for election are against most of the actions Trump has taken, including this.
Democrats always do this shit to ourselves. We refuse to admit when our party is powerless and blame them for things they can't do anything about. We should be 100% aiming our efforts towards Republicans. This is why we end up losing every other election.

(2,747 posts)We all know what Trump's response will be(Treason!!!) but its probably what it will take to end this. All Democrats must say he is insane and has to be removed. Its seems the real reluctance is purely political in that many want to run against Republicans who have to defend him. Sorry, that's what happened in 2024 instead of Biden making sure he couldn't run again and we see where that got us. He can't be POTUS come November. It can't be allowed. Democrats have to refuse to move forward governing the country until he was been removed and Vance is POTUS.

(6,925 posts)I get kind of tired when the media and commentators act like only the Dem politicians have agency and the GOP is expected to do fuck all. I am not accusing you of doing this- just musing about a thing that has bothered me for some time.

(40,851 posts)They are avoiding their responsibility. They have the majority. Trump is their monster
So there's never a better time to state loudly, on tv, in front of a pile of US flags, with a Mark Kelly in military uniform (or something) that something must be done
Representatives of our civilian leadership do not give statements in military uniform.
No.
Otherwise, I agree with you.
"I am here to say we oppose this. To the people of the United States and to the citizens of the world, Donald Trump does not have our support."

But how about Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden and George W. Bush. Perhaps flanked by Condi Rice, Rex Tillerson, Gen. Mattis, Liz Cheney, etc.

(180,171 posts)After Trump wrote, in reference to Iran, âA whole civilization will die tonight,â the entirety of the House Democratic leadership issued this joint statement:

As it turns out, it's not just House Dems: Leading Senate Democrats also issued a joint statement responding to Trump's stated plans to destroy "a whole civilization" tonight:
