everything at this point in US history is controlled by the wealthy, and other than securing and multiplying their OWN wealth, they couldn't care less about the rest of the world or its people.

Maybe another panic like the 1893 that followed the Gilded Age is the only thing that will usher in serious change. In that cycle, the MIDDLE CLASS was affected, not just the poor.
