Especially since democrats don’t have power in any branch.

It came down to the markets. Too much pressure came in from insiders concerned about a risk of a massive sell off. The market basically priced in TACO, which is why it initially didn’t move during the day. But if he had gone through it, who knows what the reaction would have been.

...subpoena power and ability to schedule hearings and criminal referrals.

And assuming politicians don't care when their party is getting flipped by double digits in special elections is to completely ignore the competetive fights we've been waging with slim majorities in both houses.

'He' is insane, and our politics have never rested on changing his mind. It's about moving republicans to either act or risk getting rolled over in the midterms.

Political pressure. It's basically the move right now, and it just moved Trump off of his genocide.

The US isn’t a party to the Rome statute. And the Supreme Court basically said he’s immune from “official” actions as president. No president — republicans or democrat will ever extradite him. That’s not a precedent they want set. That’s why the US is not party to most international criminal court conventions.

The republicans will never hold him accountable. That’s always been obvious. We already had our chance. Garland blew it.

Trump keeps pushing the envelope because he alwyad gets away with it. I’m sorry I’m too cynical to believe he will ever be held accountable for anything. We’ll see subpoena after subpoena, hearing after hearing. Maybe we’ll see a lower level official spend a few months in a Maxwell level minimum security prison for a few months. But Trump? He’ll won’t spend a day behind bars.

Oh, and 2028 isn’t a guaranteed win either. The electoral college gets even more challenging as the mid Atlantic, California, and the “blue wall” loses seats.

...that expands and advances with a Democratic majority.

That's what's happening here -not expecting republicans to do anything except what they always do; which is defend their own hides.

That's what political pressure is all about. It isn't instant gratification, but it's how the people wrest back control over the presidency and Congress to begin to shape our government and our nation away from this fascism and militarized megalomania.

Trump is 'pushing the envelope' because he has a republican party in power which has failed to confront him legislatively; something that ANY Democratic majority would have already done. The closer we get to that accountability of the election, the more pressured the republican politicians will be to try and repair their political vulnerabilities.

It's that political dynamic that Democrats are now advantaging in their opposition. It's really something to look at the political decline of republicans and not give the party that's been fighting them tooth and nail (with the little voters gave them) credit for their demise.

...who's allowing themselves to be gaslighted by what Trump believes anymore? What's the actual purpose of looking at our political prospects as if we're fragile or feckless?

...Greene is just trying to salvage her party.

She's late joining the never-Trumpers who've been pining to get back to their conservative con game where they pretend to be populists.

It looks ridiculous on Greene, but no one on our side is going to tell her as we watch her devolve into obscurity with her weird, hollow epiphanies.
