DNC Struggles Financially as Big Donors Close Wallets

Washington Post: “Party infighting and frustrating recriminations around Democrats’ 2024 losses had made 2025 a slog. Donors were avoiding fundraising requests from the committee. DNC officials, including chairman Ken Martin, told party officials that victories that November would boost their beleaguered fundraising, especially from top donors.”

“Democrats won resoundingly, flipping the Virginia governor’s mansion by 15 percentage points and sweeping other key races. But big checks did not flood back.”

2. Imagine how much the "big" donors get hounded.

But, I'm sure most of them have a staff of people to deal with these things.

12. +1 to that! Also, the whole Dems taking the AIPAC money thing --

That has a BIG moral damping effect on a LOT of Dems giving
money to DNC/ActBlue. I still give to select Dems now, rather than ActBlue.

13. I don't donate to the DNC, but I'm still hounded. However, the texts don't bother me.

It's probably an ACT Blue thing.

I donate for candidates who I support. I comes with the territory.
I just ignore the texts.

What I didn't like were those push polls by those shady PACs just before Biden withdrew...

Anyway, I currently donate to candidates that I support.

3. And yet Democrats have been successful....

so far in elections.

I keep seeing articles by so called somewhat bias resources about the party’s lack of big donor’s funding.

Apparently the Democratic Party may not have the backing from billionaires, but “we the people” so far have their backs.

5. Elections should be government funded

Same $$$, same airtime, mandatory debates or you forfeit. Maybe a written test on geography, basic facts and the Constitution.

Funding shouldn’t even be on the radar.

May the best contender win.

6. But, but, but....George Soros! The Republicans said so!

According to Fox and the Republicans, George Soros flooded Democrats with more money than Musk, Bezos, Adelman, Ellison and Zuckerberg combined, and he does it every 15 minutes. Are you telling us that the Republicans were lying?

9. While funding is important to a certain point there are other things like social media

which have become more influential. Things like Rogan and similar types.

Idiots like Nick Shirley also have influence.

Democrats as s while haven't been able to deal figure this out. Even on this site people keep looking to congressional and other officials and press conferences.

Newsom's social media mocking Trump do a lot more to help us than anyone holding a press conference and traditional tv ads.

People here are critical of some liberal youtubers and the dramatic subject lines but those were things that the right wing was doing against Biden and Harris and other democrsts and many people only see that without watching or reading.

The above things don't cost much money. So while we can still raise money it's also important to figure out ways to do things with what we have now which we didn't have or wasn't as important in previous times.

I think it's because too many people believe it, then we get out hopes up high. (Like Trump is going to prison and stuff like that. Maybe because the way these groups do this can contribute to complacency instead of voter action and anger at the GOP. Are they the source of rumors like "Trump is at Walter Reed", "Trump is dead"? Portraying Trump as physically unhealthy (whether true or not) doesn't help our cause, because it doesn't matter. He's still throwing his power around.

Yet, I know OTOH "Trump God" things worked for Trump. Que Newsom, fake but likely effective.

I see BS ads against Dems on my TV.

I think the Newsom stuff was hilarious and effective. Of course, it wasn't true. I posted his silly videos all over FB.

If we're going with hyperbole, we need to make it "fear based". The GOP uses "fear". In 2024 an ad featured an ugly pic of a Democratic candidate super imposed with thousands of people storming the border creating mayhem. (She had never made immigration as part of her platform because she was running for a local state rep) Other ads against Democratic judges showed smash and grab gangs raiding San Francisco Walgreens.

We need to show ICE agents killing people.

In 2014, a Democrat in South Texas made an ad that was against the militias

We didn't do too well in November that year....But it's worth a shot again...
