General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWe here in California will select our next Governor. Not folks in D.C. or N.Y. or the internet or anywhere else...
Just as you all will select your own representatives. Looking forward to getting my ballot in the mail and being a part of making the correct choice for California - not anywhere else.

(3,977 posts)Or is that off-limits? Only Californians can opine on California elections?
I mean, you surely are not concerned that a swath of D.C. or N.Y. or the internet people are going to try to vote in CA, are you?
So just what point are you making here?

(44 posts)With that I see a lot of posts here and to be fair, in liberal CA forms on Nextdoor, where people have been overly worried about the Governor race.
I would be shocked if two Repukes make it through.
With the latest events it is likely that Steyer gets one spot. Now we need to get one more Dem through.
Because there is no way in hell a Repub is winning CA this year sans MASSIVE fraud.

(1,047 posts)And from what I have read I believe the women. There is a little over a month left so maybe something will come out to change my mind.
Yes the timing sucks but if you have ever been or had a loved one who was a victim of SA you recognize certain patterns of grooming. Unfortunately I saw those patterns in the women's statements.
I was a supporter and was voting for Salwell. This has left heartbroken.

(66 posts)I think this sounds like some swift boat stuff. I read the CNN article and I could and would not vote for him after this.
I think the allegations are true. I also think it's another dem that is behind it.
Lifeafter70
(1,047 posts)Not sure about the timing. Maybe it is due to them finding out that they had similar experiences just recently.
We have four voters in my household, I'm the only female. We were all voting for him.
I'm not at home right now cause I'm caring for my son who is hospice in Reno area.
It will be an interesting conversation when I return home.

(22,318 posts)What their money does is form a coherent narrative. A false one, certainly, but it is consistent. We have money too, and a ton of creativity, yet our narratives are usually all over the damn place.

(273 posts)So please coalesce around one candidate so that we don't have 2 repugs running for governor of California in the general election. Thank you.

(2,042 posts)Just like when everyone from around the country thought it was their business to tell Texas how they needed to vote in a certain recent senate race and then get really upset when that didn't go the way some thought it should.

(2,693 posts)and I had a lot to say about Governor's running in other states. For example, Mamdani, Shapiro, Cooper....
It may be our governor, but it doesn't hurt to hear input from citizens of other states because ultimately, we have the final say. I welcome as much information as possible and it's up to us to decide what to believe and what to utilize in our decision making.
Kind of like a contestant on the "Price is Right" game show. The audience is yelling out their opinions and through all of the pandemonium, the contestant on stage makes the final decision, right or wrong, they have to live with their decision.

(34,481 posts)We have non partisan municipal races, which run the similar gamet. Although we don't have ranked choice.
Our mayoral races almost always end up in runoffs because the filing fees are only about $100.
