(3,955 posts). . . but please tell me when a dictator has gone softly into that quiet night??
In our own history we have only to look at Jan 6, 2021. Actually, we could look back at several elections where the loser challenged things -- Hayes-Tilden election of 1876 that led directly to the end of Reconstruction and the emergence of Southern Redemptionism . . . .
If Orban loses, expect to see troops in the streets, seizing ballot boxes and arresting his opponents - - - exactly what Trump plans for 2026 and 2028. There will be bloodshed.
And the only question that remains is this: How much bloodshed will be required here in Nov 2026 and November 2028 to stop Trump?

Democracy in Politics is not black/white, good guy/bad guy, my team/your team. It's about understanding where national social and economic risks are and matching personalities to the realistic plans they have to reduce those risks
Whether or not they've picking the lesser of two evils is still up in the air.

(106,289 posts)That says it took about 4 hours to know the winner in 2022. Votes cast at diplomatic missions abroad won't be counted until April 18th, so if it's close the result could be delayed until then.
